Support for cancer survivors
In an order to alleviate fears and help educate survivors on what to expect once cancer treatment is complete, the American Cancer Society is offering four free workshops. They will be offered on specific dates over the next four months and each will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Those wanting to participate can do so over the phone, a telephone answering service will handle all calls, or via the official Caner Society website.
The first workshop on April 12th is about how treatment can affect your brain, covering topics like memory, thinking and attention. The May 10th event is about how ones weight may fluctuate after treatment. There are specific diets to follow and they will shed insight into why your weight may change and how to get a handle on it. The June 14th session covers mental health, offering tips for stress management and overall wellness. The workshop, taking place July 12th, covers life as a cancer survivor, touching upon fear of the disease returning.
